Cape Coral (Fla.) Island Coast HS star Mike Dumas will be singing with South Alabama February 1st as he starts the next chapter in his life. The 2012 athlete is still being recruited by other colleges.
“FIU is still recruiting me and FAU,” said Dumas. “Those two teams basically and I told them I am committed to South Alabama.”
He chose South Alabama because of what they had to offer on and off the field.
“I was looking for not only playing football, but I was also looking for getting my degree. I like engineering and architecture. That is a big thing for them, so I can knock two things out with one stone. I can get football and my degree in engineering.”
While on his visit, he had a chance to really learn about the school.
“I went up there December 9th. They have wonderful facilities, plus they have so many acres to build on, as time goes by they will be adding facilities. It is an up and coming program. I have the same vibe as I do here at home.”
Growing up in south Florida, Dumas was a fan of the Miami Hurricanes. “I grew up in Miami, so Miami is my favorite team all-time.”
